Sunset Near Home

Sunset Near Home

I took this a few days ago, near my home in Southern California. The sunset is beautiful on its own and was wonderfully supplemented by the music that I was listening to on my iPod–The Wailin’ Jennys, Crooked Still, The Goat Rodeo Sessions, and The Head and The Heart, to name a few.

    • They are great bands! I really like a lot of folk and bluegrass music; heck, they are why I decided to learn how to play the banjo (a work in progress).

To be honest, though, a lot of the music that I have and enjoy I have learned about from listening to A Prairie Home Companion, which is where I first heard of The Wailin’ Jennys.

      • I love folk music! I started with the Civil Wars and I’ve been branching out from there. No judgment about how you find your music – I find all my bands through Pandora and what plays at my local small concert venue.

      • I love the Civil Wars, too! Pandora has been really helpful over the years, especially when I cannot explain exactly what I like about a song. The ability to fine tune a channel’s sound profile allows you to find bands you never would have heard of otherwise, and then go find more music by them. I’ve done that several times.
