Pose: A Word a Week Challenge

One of the blogs that I follow is the blog A Word in Your Ear, which features a Word a Week Challenge. The idea is that the author randomly chooses a word from the dictionary and then writes a post stating the word and using photos to somehow represent the week’s chosen word. While I often read these posts, I do not always have pictures that will fit the words. Or, as often as not, I get caught up in everything else and forget . . . until I see next week’s challenge.

This week’s word was: pose. You can see the original post here.

So, I submit to you, my photos of poses.Lady on Horseback SCA Fighting

Both of these photos come from Great Western War (2012), and which is an event in the Society for Creative Anachronism, which is summed up best as a historical recreation. They research and recreate historical arts, sciences, hobbies, sports, combat, riding, brewing, and the list goes on.

A few notes about the picture of people in armour.

That is rattan that the weapons are made out of, and the armor is functional (i.e., it has to actually protect us and isn’t just for show).

It is full contact.

It is not choreographed.

It is a lot of fun.
